All 6 of our 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottages have THE SAME layout, furnishings, and appointments. All backdoors open onto the large, enclosed courtyard. Cottages 1-4 face Cable St. and Cottages 5 and 6 face Santa Cruz Ave. Cottage 5 and 6 have a front porch area that is enclosed within the yard., which is a great choice for guests with children or dogs that run out the door unexpectedly. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR COTTAGE CHOICE IS A SPECIAL REQUEST. How many adults can your cottage accommodate? Our cottages can comfortably sleep four adults. Each cottage has a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed. Additionally, there is a convertible sectional sofa in the living room that makes into a VERY comfortable queen-size bed. All linens are provided. Is there a minimum stay requirement? We have a two-night minimum, except for Thanksgiving and Winter Break, during which we have a 4-night minimum. Over the Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends, we have a 3-night minimum stay. What is the reservation policy? We require a 50% deposit of rental amount and taxes at time of booking. The balance of the rental amount and taxes is due 2 weeks before check-in, and all fees are taxed and are garnered 2 days prior to your check in. Reservations less than 2 weeks from stay require full payment of rental amount, fees and taxes at the time of booking and all fees are garnered 2 days prior to check in. We do not accept reservations less than 24 hours prior to arrival. For same day booking, please contact us directly. We accept all credit cards as form or payment Is there a security deposit required? No we do not charge a security deposit. As part of your $149 Cleaning Fee you are covered up to $1000 in accidental damages. If anything breaks, just let us know and we will take care of it, no questions asked. Do you charge a cleaning fee? A $149 cleaning fee (plus 10.5% tax) is required for all stays. This fee also covers you up to $1000 in accidental damages. If anything breaks while you are staying, just let us know and we will take care of it, no questions asked. What are the pet rules and extra costs for pets? Dogs are allowed at Blue Heron Cottages. We require a one time fee of $25 (plus 10.5% tax) for up to 4 dogs. You may bring more dogs, but there is a charge of an additional $25 for up to 4 more dogs. If your dog barks or is destructive when alone, please do not leave them unattended. We ask that only RESPONSIBLE pet owners join us. YOUR DOG’S POOP needs to be cleaned up and disposed of IMMEDIATELY (we provide the baggies). PLEASE BE READY TO INTERVENE IF YOUR DOG IS THREATENED OR THREATENING. PET OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND SAFETY OF THEIR PET. PET OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR PET'S BEHAVIOR. Click Here for more information Do you accept credit cards We accept all major credit cards. Payment is made through a secure payment portal via the Internet. What is the cancellation policy for Blue Heron Cottages? If you CANCEL 2 WEEKS OR MORE prior to your arrival, we will REFUND ALL MONIES PAID minus a $25 cancelation fee. If you CANCEL LESS THAN 2 WEEKS prior to your arrival, we will return 50% of all monies paid minus a $25 cancelation fee. If you CANCEL 48 HOURS OR LESS, ALL MONIES WILL BE FORFEITED. If you CANCEL WITHIN 24 hours, we will charge a processing fee of $25 and REFUND ALL MONIES paid. What are the check-in and check-out times? Check-in: 3 PMCheck-out: 11 AM. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need an early check-in or a late check-out. We will do all we can to honor your request. Failure to check out on time will result in a $25 per hour fine. How is check-in arranged? Approximately 2 days before your arrival, you will be sent, via email, all the information you will need to check-in, including access codes and Wi-Fi login information. Is there parking? Each cottage comes with one off-street parking spot suitable for all car sizes. Do you rent equipment like bikes, surfboards, etc? We offer COMPLEMENTARY bikes, boogie boards, surfboards, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and small coolers to use during your stay on a first-come basis. Is smoking allowed in the cottage? In consideration of our guests, SMOKING IS NOT allowed in the cottages. Smokers are welcome to smoke outside, AWAY FROM THE COTTAGES. Please be considerate of non-smokers. Dispose of butts in provided ashcans. How close are you to Dog Beach? Dog Beach is a large, public beach open to all dogs and their owners. Enjoy a traditional day at the beach with your pup! The cottage is just a 5-minute drive, or a 20-minute walk, away. Is the back yard fenced in? The common courtyard at the back of the cottages is entirely fenced in. Is there air conditioning? Although our cottages have ceiling fans, tower fans, and access to cool ocean breezes, it can still become uncomfortably hot during an all too common heatwave. So, in order to keep our rental rates lower for all, we have opted to provide portable A/C units for a nominal fee of $10/day, $60/week, or $200/month. If you would like to use a portable A/C unit in your cottage, please contact us ahead of time so we can supply you with the necessary access code. Or you can see what the weather will bring. And, if you need more than the provided fans, you can contact our on-site manager during your stay. Is there a barbecue? Yes, we have two large barbeques for the communal use of all 6 cottages. How much outdoor seating is there? We have provided seating for 6-9 under the gazebo, additional seating for 8 at the picnic table, and there is various other seating throughout the courtyard area. There are also comfortable lounge chairs for your relaxation. Can the entire property be rented for special events such as weddings and reunions? Yes, we can comfortably accommodate up to 24 guests at Blue Heron Cottages. The private, open and large courtyard provides a beautiful setting for casual and relaxing entertainment for friends and family. Bear in mind that we are in a densely populated neighborhood and noise levels must not be disruptive. We have strict noise curfews due to our location and parking is very limited beyond your assigned spot. FEES and TAXES: We are obligated to charge a 10.5 % San Diego Occupancy Tax on the rental portion only for stays less than 30 days. We also charge a one-time cleaning fee of $149. This fee also covers you up to $1000 in accidental damages. This is a nonrefundable fee paid to management and is not a third party insurance product. If anything is broken or damaged during your stay, merely alert management and we will replace or repair it, no questions asked. Accidental damage above $1000 will be the guest's responsibility to pay. Additional charges would only be made in the event of very excessive damage. If you are bringing a dog, we require a $25 pet fee for up to 4 dogs. You may bring more than 4 pets, but this will require an additional pet fee of $25. CANCELATION POLICY: Cancelations made greater than 2 weeks prior to stay will receive a refund deposit minus a $25 cancelation fee. If less then two weeks, 50% of rental amount will be returned Cancelations 48 hours or less are non refundable Cancelations made within 24 hours of booking will receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. All cancelations incur a $25 cancelation fee. DEPOSIT/PAYMENTS We require a 50% deposit of all rent and and taxes for stays booked more than 2 weeks in advance. If reserving less than 2 weeks, we require 100% of rent and tax payment at the time of booking. All fees are garnered 2 days prior to day We accept all major credit cards.
