What makes Blue Heron Cottages special?
We provide affordable pet‑friendly cottages in San Diego with transparent rates and clear policies, so you can plan your stay with confidence.
How many adults can each cottage accommodate?
Each cottage is designed to comfortably sleep up to four adults.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
Yes. Seasonal and holiday minimum stays are applied, such as a minimum 3‑night requirement for select holiday periods.
What fees are applied to reservations?
In addition to the nightly or extended stay rate
A one‑time cleaning fee is charged per reservation.
Applicable taxes such as the San Diego city occupancy tax are added to stays shorter than 30 nights.
A pet fee applies if you’re bringing dogs (details below).
Is there a security deposit?
A non‑refundable damage waiver fee applies to all stays. This fee covers accidental damage up to a specified amount. If damage exceeds that amount, the guest is responsible for the excess.
What are the pet policies and fees?
Blue Heron Cottages is a pet‑friendly property. Dogs of any size are welcome for a one‑time pet fee of $25 for up to four dogs. Additional pet fees apply for more dogs .
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept all major credit cards for deposits and payments.
What is your cancellation policy?
More than 2 weeks before stay: Your deposit is refunded minus a $25 cancellation fee.
Less than 2 weeks before stay: 50% of the rental amount is returned.
48 hours or less before arrival: No refund.
Within 24 hours of booking: Full refund minus a $25 processing fee.
All cancellations incur a $25 fee.
How do deposits and payments work?
Reservations made more than 2 weeks in advance require a 50% deposit of rent and taxes at booking.
Reservations less than 2 weeks before arrival require full payment at booking.
Is there parking?
Yes. Complimentary parking is provided for each cottage
What are the check‑in and check‑out times?
Check‑in: After designated time indicated in confirmation (typically afternoon).
Check‑out: Before the morning of departure date (typically mid‑morning).
Do you rent equipment like bikes, surfboards, etc.?
Yes, beach gear and equipment are available for guest use (such as bikes, boogie boards, surfboards, beach chairs, and towels) as part of the guest experience .
Is smoking allowed in the cottage?
Smoking is not permitted inside the cottages in accordance with our property guidelines.
How close are you to Dog Beach?
Blue Heron Cottages is within walking or driving distance to Dog Beach, a local off‑leash beach popular with guests and their pets.
Is the backyard or courtyard fenced in?
Yes. The shared courtyard is fenced and serves as a safe outdoor space guests and pets can enjoy.
FEES and TAXES:
- San Diego City Occupancy Tax: 10.5% applied on stays of less than 30 days.
- Cleaning Fee: Charged once per stay and provides coverage for up to a specified amount of accidental damage.
- Pet Fee: $25 for up to four dogs; additional pet fees apply for more.
CANCELATION POLICY:
Cancelations made greater than 2 weeks prior to stay will receive a refund deposit minus a $25 cancelation fee.
If less then two weeks, 50% of rental amount will be returned
Cancelations 48 hours or less are non refundable
Cancelations made within 24 hours of booking will receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee.
All cancelations incur a $25 cancelation fee.
DEPOSIT/PAYMENTS
- 50% deposit required at booking for reservations made more than 2 weeks in advance.
- Full payment is due at the time of booking for reservations less than 2 weeks before arrival.
